The ADM213ARSZ is a CMOS RS232 transceiver IC from Analog Devices, part of the ADM2xx family of line drivers/receivers. It is designed for EIA-232-E and V.28 communications interfaces, particularly in applications where ±12V is not available. The device integrates four drivers and five receivers, supporting full duplex communication at a data rate of 120 Kbps.
Key electrical characteristics include a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, typical output voltage swing of ±9V with a 5V supply, and receiver hysteresis of 650 mV. The transceiver consumes only 15 mW typical power and features a low power shutdown mode that reduces dissipation to 5 μW maximum. Receiver inputs can tolerate up to ±30V.
The ADM213ARSZ is housed in a surface mount 28-SSOP package (0.209", 5.30mm width) and operates over an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. It is pin compatible with the MAX213 from Maxim Integrated. Typical applications include computers, peripherals, modems, printers, and instruments.
