The ADM1029ARQZ-R7 is a versatile dual PWM fan controller and temperature monitor designed for high-availability systems such as personal computers, servers, and telecommunications equipment. It allows for reliable control and monitoring of multiple cooling fans.

This device can control the speed of one or two fans and measure their speed via a tachometer output. It also measures temperature using one or two external sensing diodes or an internal sensor, enabling fan speed adjustment to maintain acceptable system temperatures. The ADM1029ARQZ-R7 supports software-programmable and automatic fan speed control, independent of CPU intervention after initial setup. Its control loop minimizes acoustic noise and power consumption.

Key features include dual fan speed measurement, support for backup and redundant fans, and hot-swapping capabilities. It communicates with the host processor over an SMBus serial bus and supports up to eight devices on a common bus, controlling up to sixteen fans. The device features an interrupt output for fault signaling and a cascadable fault output for signaling between multiple ADM1029s.

The ADM1029ARQZ-R7 is available in a compact 24-lead QSOP package, suitable for surface mount applications. It operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 100°C and requires a supply voltage between 3V and 5.5V.
