The ADM1021AARQZ-R is a two-channel digital thermometer and under/overtemperature alarm designed for thermal monitoring in systems like personal computers. It can measure temperature using a diode-connected PNP transistor, either on-chip with processors or via a discrete NPN/PNP device. A unique measurement technique eliminates the need for calibration.
The device includes a second channel to measure the output of an on-chip temperature sensor, monitoring the device and its environment. Communication is handled via a two-wire SMBus serial interface. Under/overtemperature limits are programmable, and an ALERT output signals when temperatures are out of range, usable as an interrupt or SMBus alert.
