The ADC0834CCN is an 8-bit successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter from Texas Instruments. It accepts four input channels, configurable as differential or single-ended, and digitizes signals at rates up to 31.25 ksps with a typical conversion time of 32 µs. The device operates from a 4.5V to 6.3V supply and uses an external reference, allowing the analog input span to be adjusted for the full 8-bit resolution.
The serial interface supports both SPI and Microwire protocols, enabling straightforward connection to microprocessors, shift registers, or standalone operation. The built-in multiplexer simplifies multi-channel data acquisition systems. With a total unadjusted error of ±0.5 LSB, the converter needs no zero or full-scale trimming. It can operate ratiometrically with a 5V DC reference, which is useful in bridge and sensor applications.
The ADC0834CCN is supplied in a 14-pin PDIP (0.300", 7.62mm) through-hole package, also designated as 14-PDIP. It is specified for operation from -40°C to 85°C, covering typical industrial temperature ranges. This combination of serial interface, multiplexed inputs, and wide supply range makes it suitable for embedded data acquisition, instrumentation, and control systems.
