AD9923ABBCZ Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The AD9923ABBCZ from Analog Devices is a comprehensive 36 MHz front-end solution for CCD imaging applications, including digital still cameras. This integrated circuit features a 12-bit, 36 MS/s analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a fully programmable timing generator (TG), and a 15-channel vertical driver (V-driver).

A Precision Timing core enables high-speed clock adjustments with approximately 600 ps resolution at 36 MHz operation. The analog front end includes black level clamping, correlated double sampling (CDS), a variable gain amplifier (VGA) with a range of 6 dB to 42 dB, and the 12-bit ADC. The timing generator and V-driver provide essential CCD clocks such as RG, H-clocks, vertical clocks, sensor gate pulses, substrate clock, and substrate bias control.

This device supports 5-field, 10-phase CCDs and offers 2-phase and 4-phase H-clock modes, along with electronic and mechanical shutter support. The internal registers are programmed via a 3-wire serial interface. The AD9923ABBCZ is packaged in an 8 mm × 8 mm CSP_BGA with a 0.65 mm pitch, suitable for surface mounting.

It operates from a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 3.6V, with a typical operating voltage of 3V and an operating current of 20mA. The device is specified for an operating temperature range of -25°C to +85°C. Its compact BGA package and integrated features make it suitable for space-constrained imaging systems.
