AD9901KPZ Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The AD9901KPZ is a digital phase/frequency discriminator from Analog Devices, fabricated using a high-speed trench-oxide isolated process. It can directly compare phase/frequency inputs up to 200 MHz, providing a linear detection range free of dead zones common to other digital designs.

With a single +5V supply, the AD9901KPZ can be configured to operate with TTL or CMOS logic levels; it can also operate with ECL inputs when using a -5.2V supply. The open-collector outputs allow the output swing to be matched to post-filtering requirements. A simple current setting resistor controls the output stage current range, permitting power reduction at lower frequencies.

The device features differential inputs and outputs with a 2:1 ratio and no internal divider. It is available in a commercial temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. The package is a 20-LCC (J-Lead), also supplied as a 20-PLCC (9x9) surface mount package.

Typical applications include low phase noise reference loops, fast-tuning agile IF loops, secure hopping communications, and coherent radar transmitter/receiver chains.
