AD9888KS-140

The AD9888KS-140 from Analog Devices is a complete 8-bit, 170 MSPS monolithic analog interface optimized for capturing RGB graphics signals from personal computers and workstations. Its high encode rate capability and 500 MHz full-power analog bandwidth support resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) at 75 Hz.

This integrated interface solution includes a triple ADC with an internal 1.25 V reference phase-locked loop (PLL) to generate a pixel clock from HSYNC and COAST signals. It features midscale clamping, programmable gain, offset, and clamp controls. The device operates from a 3.3 V power supply and offers a low power consumption of less than 1 W typical at 170 MSPS.

Key features include full sync processing, sync detect for hot plugging, a 2:1 analog input multiplexer, and a 4:2:2 output format mode. The on-chip PLL can generate a pixel clock ranging from 10 MHz to 170 MHz, with PLL clock jitter typically less than 450 ps p-p at 170 MSPS. The PLL can be disabled to allow for an external clock input.

Applications for the AD9888KS-140 include RGB graphics processing, LCD monitors and projectors, plasma display panels, scan converters, microdisplays, and digital TVs. It is designed for ease of use and cost-effectiveness in flat panel display interfaces.
