AD9877ABS Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The Analog Devices AD9877ABS is a versatile Mixed-Signal Front End (MxFE) IC designed for MCNS-DOCSIS, DVB, and DAVIC-compliant set-top boxes and cable modems. Operating at a low cost 3.3V, this device integrates a complete transmit path, including an interpolation filter and a quadrature digital upconverter, alongside a receive path featuring a 12-bit ADC and dual 8-bit ADCs.

The transmit path boasts a 232 MHz quadrature digital upconverter and a 12-bit direct IF DAC (TxDAC+®) capable of sampling rates up to 232 MSPS. It supports carrier frequencies up to 65 MHz with 26 bits of frequency tuning resolution and offers analog output scaling for precise level adjustment. The receive path includes a 12-bit IF ADC with a sampling rate of up to 33 MSPS, offering excellent undersampling performance with better than 10 ENOBs for IF inputs up to 70 MHz. Dual 8-bit, 16.5 MSPS sampling IQ ADCs are also included.

Additional features include two 12-bit Σ-Δ auxiliary DACs for controlling external components like VGAs or tuners, and a CA port for direct interface with programmable gain amplifier (PGA) cable drivers. The AD9877ABS is housed in a 100-pin MQFP package and is specified for an extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
