AD9877ABS Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The AD9877ABS is a mixed-signal front end (MxFE) designed for cable modem and set-top box applications. It operates from a single 3.3V supply and is housed in a 100-pin MQFP package (100-BQFP). The device integrates a complete transmit path with a 12-bit direct IF DAC capable of sampling rates up to 232 MSPS, a direct digital synthesizer (DDS) with carrier frequencies up to 65 MHz, and a selectable interpolation filter.

The receive path includes a 12-bit IF ADC with a maximum sampling rate of 33 MSPS, providing better than 10 ENOBs for IF inputs up to 75 MHz. Additionally, dual 8-bit IQ ADCs sample at up to 16.5 MSPS. Two 12-bit sigma-delta auxiliary DACs are available for controlling external components such as variable gain amplifiers or tuners.

The device supports a CA port for direct interface to AD8321/AD8325 or AD8322/AD8327 PGA cable drivers. It is specified over the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The AD9877ABS is pin-compatible with the AD9873 but offers enhanced receive path undersampling performance at a lower cost.
