The AD9851BRSZRL is a highly integrated direct digital synthesis (DDS) device from Analog Devices, featuring a 180 MHz master clock rate with a selectable 6x reference clock multiplier. It incorporates an on-chip 10-bit high-performance DAC and a high-speed comparator with hysteresis, enabling sine or square wave output. The device supports a 32-bit frequency tuning word and 5-bit phase modulation, providing fine frequency and phase control.
The DDS offers a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) greater than 43 dB at 70 MHz output, and the comparator jitter is less than 80 ps p-p at 20 MHz. It operates from a single 2.7V to 5.25V supply, with typical power dissipation of 555 mW at 180 MHz, and a power-down mode reduces consumption to 4 mW at 2.7V.
The AD9851 is housed in a compact 28-lead SSOP package (SSOP-28) for surface mount assembly. It supports both parallel and serial loading formats for flexible control interface. Typical applications include frequency/phase-agile sine wave synthesis, clock recovery, and agile local oscillator generation.
