The AD9833BRM is a low-power, programmable waveform generator from Analog Devices, designed for direct digital synthesis (DDS) applications. It operates with a master clock frequency of 25 MHz and provides an output frequency range from DC to 12.5 MHz. The device features a 28-bit tuning word width, enabling fine frequency resolution of 0.1 Hz at the maximum clock rate. The internal 10-bit DAC generates sine, triangular, and square wave outputs.
The AD9833BRM operates from a supply voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V and consumes only 12.65 mW typical at 3V, making it suitable for power-sensitive designs. Communication is via a 3-wire SPI interface, allowing easy integration with microcontrollers. The device is qualified to AEC-Q100 for automotive applications and operates over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.
The IC is housed in a compact 10-MSOP package (3.00mm width) with surface mount mounting. Typical applications include frequency stimulus generation, liquid and gas flow measurement, proximity and motion sensing, defect detection, test and medical equipment, and time domain reflectometry (TDR). No external components are required for basic operation, simplifying design.
