The AD977AR is a high speed, low power 16-bit A/D converter from the AD977 family of Analog Devices. It uses a successive approximation architecture (SAR) and operates from a single 5 V supply with a maximum power dissipation of 100 mW. The device supports a variety of input voltage ranges including unipolar (0 V–10 V, 0 V–5 V, 0 V–4 V) and bipolar (±10 V, ±5 V, ±3.3 V), making it versatile for both single-ended and differential signal conditioning.
The ADC includes an internal 2.5 V reference and an on-chip clock, and communicates via a high speed SPI serial interface. The converter is factory calibrated to minimize linearity errors. The AD977AR is offered in a 20-lead SOIC package (0.295" width, 7.50 mm) for surface mount assembly. It is specified for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
The device is well suited for applications such as automatic test equipment, process control, and industrial automation where accurate, high-resolution conversion at moderate sampling rates is required. A power-down mode reduces power consumption to 50 µW for battery-sensitive or intermittent operation.
