The AD9642BCPZ-250 is a high-performance 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Analog Devices, designed for demanding communications and instrumentation applications. It supports sampling rates up to 250 MSPS and employs a pipelined architecture to achieve high throughput with low power consumption. Key electrical characteristics include a typical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 71.0 dBFS and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 83 dBc when operating at 250 MSPS with a 185 MHz input tone.
The ADC accepts a differential analog input with an adjustable voltage range of 1.4 V p-p to 2.0 V p-p (1.75 V p-p nominal). It features an internal voltage reference and includes a duty cycle stabilizer for robust clocking. The output data is provided via LVDS parallel lanes (ANSI-644 levels), enabling high-speed data transfer to digital receivers. A flexible integer clock divider (1-to-8) allows for input clock frequencies up to 625 MHz.
The device operates from a single 1.8 V supply and consumes only 390 mW typical at full speed. It is housed in a compact 32-lead LFCSP (5x5mm) package with an exposed pad for improved thermal performance. The operating temperature range covers -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for industrial environments. Typical applications include diversity radio systems, multimode digital receivers, ultrasound equipment, and software-defined radios.
