The AD9571ACPZPEC-R7 from Analog Devices is a high-performance clock generator, fanout distribution, and multiplexer IC designed for Ethernet line card applications. It integrates a fully integer-N PLL core with a VCO and an on-chip loop filter, accepting a 25 MHz crystal or reference clock as input. The device generates ten pre-configured clock outputs via strapping pins: six copies of 25 MHz CMOS, one 33.33 MHz CMOS, two dual-rate outputs configurable for 100 MHz or 125 MHz (LVPECL or LVDS), and one 156.25 MHz differential output (LVPECL or LVDS).
Jitter performance is exceptional, with 0.17 ps rms typical jitter from 1.875 MHz to 20 MHz at 156.25 MHz, and 0.41 ps rms from 12 kHz to 20 MHz at 125 MHz. Typical power dissipation is 0.48 W for LVDS operation and 0.69 W for LVPECL operation, with a supply voltage range of 2.97 V to 3.63 V (nominal 3.3 V).
The IC is housed in a 40-lead LFCSP (lead frame chip scale package) measuring 6 mm × 6 mm, with an exposed pad for thermal management. It operates over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is surface mount compatible. The device is RoHS3 compliant and suitable for use in networking equipment such as Ethernet switches, routers, SCSI, SATA, and PCI Express interfaces.
The supply voltage range is 2.97V to 3.63V, with a nominal 3.3V operation.
