The AD9516-1/PCBZ is an evaluation board from Analog Devices designed to evaluate the AD9516-1 clock generator IC. The AD9516-1 is a low-noise PLL clock synthesizer with an integrated 2.5 GHz VCO, providing up to 14 outputs and 2 reference inputs. The board is supplied with board(s), cable(s), and a power supply, and operates from a 6 V input.
The evaluation board includes SMA connectors for two reference inputs, a charge pump output, and a clock distribution input. It provides 8 ac-coupled differential LVPECL SMA connectors, 2 ac-coupled LVPECL differential headers, 2 dc-coupled differential LVDS SMA connectors reconfigurable to four CMOS outputs, and 2 dc-coupled LVDS differential headers reconfigurable to four CMOS outputs. On-board LDO voltage regulators allow simple power connection using a 6 V wall adapter, and can be bypassed for power measurements.
The board supports clocking of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters up to 2.9 GHz, making it suitable for networking and communications line cards, test and measurement equipment, wireless base stations, and clock cleanup/jitter attenuation applications. USB connectivity and Windows-based evaluation software provide a simple graphical user interface for configuring the PLL and clock outputs.
The board provides easy access to digital I/O and diagnostic signals via an I/O header, with status LEDs for diagnostics. It is an evaluation board, not an embedded solution, and is intended for lab evaluation and prototyping.
