The AD9203ARUZ from Analog Devices is a monolithic low power, single supply, 10-bit, 40 MSPS analog-to-digital converter with an on-chip voltage reference. It uses a multistage differential pipeline architecture and guarantees no missing codes over the full -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range. The device accepts differential or single-ended inputs with an adjustable range of 1 V to 2 V p-p.
Power dissipation is 74 mW typical at 40 MSPS and 3 V supply, dropping to 17 mW at 5 MSPS. The converter provides an effective number of bits (ENOB) of 9.55 bit at 20 MHz input frequency. An out-of-range indicator and power-down standby mode (0.65 mW) are included. The data interface is parallel, and the architecture includes a sample-and-hold stage followed by a pipelined ADC core.
The device is supplied in a 28-lead TSSOP package (4.40 mm width) for surface mount assembly. Its adjustable input range and low power consumption make it suited for portable instrumentation, CCD imaging, IF/baseband communications, cable modems, and medical ultrasound applications.
