The AD9164BBCA from Analog Devices is a high-performance 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and direct digital synthesizer (DDS). It supports DAC update rates of up to 12 GSPS and direct RF synthesis at rates up to 6 GSPS.
This device features a wide analog bandwidth, operating from DC to 2.5 GHz in baseband mode and DC to 6 GHz in 2x NRZ mode. In Mix-Mode operation, it can reconstruct RF carriers up to 7.5 GHz. The output current is programmable from 8 mA to 38.76 mA. The data interface utilizes up to eight JESD204B SERDES lanes, and configuration is managed via an SPI interface.
Designed for demanding high-speed RF DAC applications, the AD9164BBCA is suitable for broadband communications systems, including DOCSIS 3.1 infrastructure, and wireless communications infrastructure like W-CDMA and LTE. Its architecture includes bypassable interpolation filters with factors ranging from 2x to 24x.
The component is housed in a 169-ball CSPBGA package (11x11mm) and is designed for surface mounting. It operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
