AD8522AN Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The AD8522AN from Analog Devices is a complete dual 12-bit, single-supply, voltage output Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) available in a 14-pin PDIP package. Fabricated using a CBCMOS process, it includes a serial digital interface, an onboard reference, and buffered voltage outputs, making it ideal for +5V-only systems.

This monolithic device offers ease of use and requires no external components for full performance. The serial digital interface allows direct interfacing with microcontroller ports using a high-speed, three-wire data, clock, and load strobe format. The 16-bit serial word includes the 12-bit data word and DAC select address. A serial data output enables daisy-chaining multiple devices.

The output features a 4.095V full scale, laser trimmed for accuracy over the operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, providing one-millivolt-per-bit resolution. A 2.5V reference output is also available externally for other data acquisition circuitry. The output buffers are capable of driving ±5 mA. The AD8522AN is designed for applications such as digitally controlled calibration, servo controls, process control equipment, computer peripherals, and portable instrumentation.
