The AD7943BRSZ is a 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Analog Devices, part of the AD7943 family of multiplying DACs. It uses a serial interface to receive digital input data and provides an unbuffered current output. The R-2R resistor ladder architecture ensures monotonic performance with integral and differential nonlinearity of ±0.5 LSB maximum. Typical settling time is 600 µs, and the device consumes only 5 mW typical power. It requires an external voltage reference and operates from a single 5V supply.
This DAC is suitable for battery-powered instrumentation, laptop computers, and as an upgrade for 754x series DACs in 5V designs. The serial interface features a 40 ns strobe pulsewidth, enabling fast data transfer. The output leakage current is typically 10 nA at +25°C. The reference input resistance is typically 9 kΩ (minimum 6 kΩ), allowing flexible reference selection.
The AD7943BRSZ is offered in a 20-lead SSOP (Shrink Small Outline Package) with a surface mount mounting type. It operates over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The device is RoHS3 compliant (unverified) and has an MSL level of 1 (unlimited).
