The AD7880CN is a 12-bit monolithic A/D converter from Analog Devices, designed for low power and single +5V supply operation. It includes an on-chip track/hold amplifier and a successive-approximation ADC, providing a complete sampling analog-to-digital conversion solution.
Key specifications include a 66 kHz throughput rate, 12 µs conversion time, and 70 dB signal-to-noise ratio. Power dissipation is 25 mW typical during normal operation, dropping to 2 mW in power save mode. The parallel data interface offers fast access times of 57 ns, enabling easy interfacing with modern microprocessors and digital signal processors.
The AD7880CN is suitable for battery-powered portable systems, digital signal processing, speech recognition and synthesis, high-speed modems, and control and instrumentation applications. An internal resistor network allows acceptance of both unipolar and bipolar input signals from a single +5V supply.
The device is available in a 24-lead DIP (0.3" width) package with through-hole mounting. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, making it suitable for industrial environments.
