The AD7879-1WARUZ-RL7 is a 12-bit successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (SAR ADC) designed specifically for 4-wire resistive touch screens. It interfaces via I²C or serial protocols and operates from a single 1.6V to 3.6V supply. This controller integrates low on-resistance switches for driving the touch panel and supports an auxiliary input/battery monitor from 0.5V to 5V.
The device achieves a throughput rate of 105 kSPS and includes a shutdown mode with a maximum current consumption of 6 µA. A preprocessing block with median and averaging filters reduces noise from LCDs and other sources. The external voltage reference provides flexibility for precision measurements.
The AD7879-1WARUZ-RL7 is housed in a 16-lead TSSOP package (4.4mm × 5mm) with surface mount design, and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It is qualified for automotive applications and suitable for portable and battery-powered systems.
The supply voltage range is 1.6V to 3.6V.
It is available in a 16-TSSOP (0.173", 4.40mm Width) surface-mount package.
The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.
The part is marked RoHS3 Compliant, but this status has not been independently verified and should be confirmed with the manufacturer.
It supports I²C and Serial interfaces.
The ADC resolution is 12 bits.
The shutdown current is 6 µA maximum.
