The AD7873ARQZ from Analog Devices is a complete touch screen digitizer IC designed for 4-wire resistive touch screens. It integrates a 12-bit successive approximation ADC with a high-speed serial interface, providing accurate and fast touch coordinate conversion. The device features an on-chip 2.5V reference and temperature sensor covering -40°C to +85°C.
The ADC achieves a throughput rate of 125 kSPS, operating from a single 2.2V to 5.25V supply. Power consumption is optimized with a shutdown mode drawing less than 1 µA. The ratiometric conversion architecture ensures consistent accuracy across the supply range. An external reference can also be applied from 1V to VCC.
The AD7873ARQZ is housed in a 16-lead QSOP (equivalent to 16-SSOP) surface-mount package. It supports direct battery measurement (0V to 6V), touch pressure measurement, and includes one auxiliary analog input. Programmable resolution (8-bit or 12-bit) and serial interface make it suitable for portable and handheld applications.
