The AD7859AP is a high-speed, low-power 12-bit ADC from Analog Devices, part of the AD7859/AD7859L family. It features 8 multiplexed input channels and a successive approximation register (SAR) architecture. The converter achieves a throughput rate of 200 kSPS and operates from a single 3 V to 5.5 V supply. Typical power dissipation is 15 mW at 3 V, with automatic power-down options for low-power applications.
The ADC includes self-calibration and system calibration to maintain accuracy over time and temperature. It supports both unipolar (0 to VREF) and bipolar (-VREF/2 to +VREF/2 about VREF/2) input voltage ranges. The parallel interface provides flexible 16-bit or 8-bit data transfer. The AD7859AP is supplied in a 44-PLCC (16.59x16.59) surface-mount package, with a 44-LCC (J-Lead) case style. It is specified for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
Typical applications include battery-powered systems (personal digital assistants, medical instruments, mobile communications), pen computers, instrumentation and control systems, and high-speed modems.
