The AD768AR is a high-speed 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a 30 MSPS update rate, manufactured on Analog Devices' ABCMOS process. It uses a segmented current source architecture with an R-2R ladder for the least significant bits, providing low glitch energy and high dynamic accuracy.
Key electrical specifications include a 25 ns typical settling time to 0.025% full-scale, 86 dBc SFDR at 1 MHz output, 71 dBc THD, and a low glitch impulse of 35 pV-s. The DAC offers a full-scale output current of 20 mA with a 1 kΩ output impedance and differential outputs for single-ended or differential applications. An on-chip 2.5V bandgap reference and edge-triggered input latches are integrated. The device operates from ±5 V supplies and dissipates 465 mW.
The AD768AR is packaged in a 28-SOIC (0.295", 7.50mm width) surface mount package with gull wing leads. It is specified for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Typical applications include arbitrary waveform generation, communications waveform reconstruction, and vector stroke display systems.
