AD7685BRMZRL7 Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The AD7685 is a 16-bit, charge redistribution successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Analog Devices. It operates from a single power supply between 2.3 V and 5.5 V and offers a throughput of 250 kSPS with no missing codes. The converter uses a SAR architecture and accepts a pseudo-differential analog input range from 0 V to VREF, with VREF up to VDD.

Key electrical performance includes an integral nonlinearity (INL) of ±0.6 LSB typical and ±2 LSB maximum, a SINAD of 93.5 dB at 20 kHz, and a total harmonic distortion (THD) of -110 dB at 20 kHz. The device features a low power dissipation of 1.4 µW at 2.5 V and 100 SPS, scaling to 1.35 mW at 2.5 V and 100 kSPS, and 4 mW at 5 V and 100 kSPS. A standby current of 1 nA is typical.

The ADC includes an internal conversion clock and a versatile serial interface compatible with SPI, QSPI, MICROWIRE, and DSP. It supports daisy-chaining multiple ADCs and provides a BUSY indicator. The logic supply voltage ranges from 1.8 V to 5 V, allowing direct interface with low-voltage logic.

The AD7685 is available in a 10-lead MSOP package and is intended for surface mount assembly. It is pin-for-pin compatible with other 10-lead MSOP PulSAR ADCs. Typical applications include battery-powered equipment, medical instruments, mobile communications, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and process controls.
