AD7533LN Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The AD7533LN from Analog Devices is a cost-effective, 10-bit, 4-quadrant multiplying digital-to-analog converter (DAC) manufactured using an advanced thin-film-on-monolithic-CMOS process. It is pin and function equivalent to the industry-standard AD7520, making it a suitable lower-cost alternative for existing designs or new 10-bit DAC applications.

This DAC offers flexibility with its ability to interface directly with TTL or CMOS logic and operate on power supply voltages ranging from 5V to 15V. It provides proper binary scaling for reference inputs of either positive or negative polarity. Key electrical specifications include a 10-bit resolution, R-2R architecture, and a settling time of 800ns. The integral non-linearity (INL) is specified at a maximum of ±1 LSB.

The AD7533LN is designed for through-hole mounting and comes in a 16-PDIP package. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C. The device features a parallel data interface and an unbuffered current output. It also supports differential output and external reference types.

Applications for the AD7533LN include digitally controlled attenuators, programmable gain amplifiers, function generation, and linear automatic gain controls. Its latch-free design eliminates the need for protection Schottky diodes.
