The AD7528LN from Analog Devices is a monolithic dual 8-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for applications requiring precise control and matching between two DAC channels. This device features on-chip latches for both DACs, simplifying microprocessor interfacing. Data is transferred via a common 8-bit TTL/CMOS compatible input port, with a control input selecting which DAC is loaded. The AD7528LN is bus compatible with most 8-bit microprocessors.
Key electrical characteristics include operation from a +5 V to +15 V power supply, dissipating only 20 mW. The DACs offer excellent four-quadrant multiplication capabilities, each with a separate reference input and feedback resistor. A significant feature is the inherent DAC-to-DAC matching, specified to 1%, making it suitable for stereo audio circuits and X-Y graphics.
Available in a 20-lead PDIP package, the AD7528LN is designed for through-hole mounting. Its latch-free design eliminates the need for protection Schottky diodes. Applications include digital control of gain/attenuation and filter parameters.
