The AD7528JN is a CMOS dual 8-bit buffered multiplying digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Analog Devices. It integrates two 8-bit DACs on a single chip with on-chip input latches, allowing easy microprocessor interface via a common 8-bit parallel data bus. The device operates from a +5V to +15V power supply and dissipates only 20 mW of power typical.
Key specifications include a settling time of 400 ns, R-2R architecture, external reference voltage, and current-unbuffered output. The DACs are matched to 1% and support four-quadrant multiplication. The device is TTL/CMOS compatible and latch-free, eliminating the need for protection Schottky diodes.
The AD7528JN is suitable for applications such as digital control of gain/attenuation, filter parameters, stereo audio circuits, and X-Y graphics. It is housed in a 20-pin DIP (0.300 inch, 7.62mm) through-hole package (20-PDIP), making it ideal for prototyping and low-volume production. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.
