The AD7391AR from Analog Devices is a 10-bit, voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for single-supply operation from 2.7V to 5.5V. Built using CBCMOS process technology, this monolithic DAC offers low cost and ease of use in 3V systems. Its micropower consumption, less than 100 µA, makes it ideal for battery-operated applications.
The device features an SPI and QSPI serial interface compatible with Schmitt trigger inputs. A CLR input allows the output to be set to zero scale on demand or at power-on. The full-scale voltage output is determined by the external reference input voltage, with rail-to-rail REF IN to DACOUT capability.
The AD7391AR is available in compact SO-8 and thin TSSOP-8 packages, both with a height of 1.75 mm and 1.1 mm respectively. It is specified over an extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +185°C, and for automotive applications, it is specified from -40°C to +125°C.
Applications include automotive 0.5V to 4.5V output span voltage, portable communications, and digitally controlled calibration.
