The AD7305BR from Analog Devices is a quad 8-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with an R-2R ladder architecture. It provides four independent voltage-buffered outputs that swing rail to rail. A fast parallel data interface allows easy connection to microcontrollers and digital systems. The device requires an external reference and supports a rail-to-rail reference input range.
Electrical specifications include a settling time of 2 µs typical, integral nonlinearity (INL) and differential nonlinearity (DNL) of ±1 LSB maximum. The supply voltage range is 2.7 V to 5.5 V for single-supply operation, or ±5 V for dual-supply operation. Power consumption is less than 9 mW from a 3 V supply. The reference multiplying bandwidth is 2.6 MHz typical, making it suitable for AC applications.
The AD7305BR is housed in a 20-pin SOIC package (0.295" body width, 7.50 mm) with a surface-mount gull-wing lead style and 1.27 mm pitch. It operates over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Typical applications include automotive output span voltage generation, instrumentation digitally controlled calibration, and general-purpose multi-channel analog output systems. It is pin-compatible with the AD7226 when VDD is less than 5.5 V.
