The AD679JD is a complete 14-bit, 128 kSPS sampling analog-to-digital converter from Analog Devices. It integrates a sample-and-hold amplifier, ADC, 5 V reference, clock, and digital interface on a single chip. The flash architecture enables high-speed conversion with a 1 MHz full power bandwidth and 500 kHz full linear bandwidth. Typical signal-to-noise plus distortion (S/N+D) is 78 dB for K, B, and T grades.
The converter accepts either ±10 V bipolar or 0-10 V unipolar input ranges with a 10 MΩ input impedance. Data output is in straight binary for unipolar mode and twos complement for bipolar mode via an 8-bit parallel interface. The AD679 requires ±12 V analog and 5 V digital supplies and operates over the 0°C to 70°C temperature range.
The AD679JD is housed in a 28-pin CDIP (0.600", 15.24mm) through-hole package. It is pin compatible with the AD678 12-bit, 200 kSPS ADC, providing an easy upgrade path. The part is suitable for data acquisition, signal processing, and control applications where high resolution and sampling rate are required.
