AD664BJ

The AD664BJ is a monolithic integrated circuit from Analog Devices, featuring four complete 12-bit voltage-output digital-to-analog converters (DACs) on a single chip. Each DAC includes a double-buffered input latch structure and a data readback capability, allowing for verification of internal data register contents.

All DAC read and write operations are managed through a single microprocessor-compatible input/output (I/O) port, which supports 4-bit, 8-bit, or 12-bit parallel words for easy interfacing with various microprocessors. A dedicated 'reset to zero' control pin allows for the simultaneous reset of all DAC outputs to 0V, irrespective of the input latch's current state. Additionally, any or all DACs can be placed in a transparent mode for immediate output response to input data.

The analog section comprises four DAC cells, four output amplifiers, a control amplifier, and switches. Each DAC cell utilizes an inverting R-2R type architecture. The output current from each DAC is directed to on-board application resistors and an output amplifier. The output range for each DAC cell is independently programmable via the digital I/O port, supporting unipolar or bipolar ranges with gains of one or two times the external reference voltage.

Available in surface-mount packages such as LCC, PLCC, and JLCC, as well as PDIP and SBDIP packages, the AD664BJ is suitable for various applications including automatic test equipment, robotics, process control, disk drives, instrumentation, and avionics. MIL-STD-883 compliant versions are also available.
