AD637ARZ Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The AD637ARZ from Analog Devices is a complete, high-accuracy, wideband RMS-to-DC converter designed to compute the true RMS value of any complex waveform. It offers performance comparable to discrete and modular techniques in accuracy, bandwidth, and dynamic range.

This IC computes the true root mean square, mean square, or absolute value of AC or AC plus DC input waveforms, providing an equivalent DC output voltage. It boasts a maximum nonlinearity of 0.02% and a wide bandwidth of 8 MHz at 2 V rms input, extending to 600 kHz at 100 mV rms input. Superior crest factor compensation allows measurements of signals with crest factors up to 10 with less than 1% additional error.

The AD637ARZ features a 60 dB range dB output and a chip select/power-down function that reduces quiescent current from 2.2 mA to 350 µA, making it suitable for low-power applications. The device is available in a 16-SOIC package and is designed for surface mounting.

Key specifications include a nonlinearity of 0.02% maximum, a bandwidth of 8 MHz at 2 V rms, and a crest factor compensation for signals up to a crest factor of 10 with less than 1% additional error. The device operates with a voltage range of ±3V to ±18V.
