The AD590MH/883B from Analog Devices is a 2-terminal integrated circuit temperature transducer that outputs a current proportional to absolute temperature. It functions as a high impedance, constant current regulator, providing 1 μA/K for supply voltages between 4 V and 30 V. The device is laser trimmed for accuracy, offering ±0.5°C calibration accuracy and ±0.3°C linearity over its full operating range of -55°C to +150°C.
This temperature transducer is suitable for applications below 150°C where conventional electrical temperature sensors are used. Its monolithic integrated circuit design eliminates the need for external linearization, precision voltage amplifiers, or resistance measuring circuitry, making it a cost-effective alternative. The AD590MH/883B is available in a TO-52-3 metal can package and is designed for through-hole mounting.
Key features include a linear current output of 1 μA/K and a wide power supply range. The device is insensitive to voltage drops over long lines due to its high impedance current output, making it useful for remote sensing applications. It can be easily multiplexed by switching the supply voltage or current output.
