The AD590MH from Analog Devices is a 2-terminal integrated circuit temperature transducer that provides an output current proportional to absolute temperature. It functions as a high impedance, constant current regulator, outputting 1 μA/K for supply voltages between 4 V and 30 V. The device is laser trimmed for accuracy, offering ±0.5°C calibration accuracy and excellent linearity of ±0.3°C over its full range (for the AD590M variant).
This temperature transducer is suitable for applications below 150°C where conventional electrical temperature sensors are used. Its monolithic integrated circuit design and elimination of support circuitry make it a cost-effective alternative for many temperature measurement situations. It does not require linearization circuitry, precision voltage amplifiers, or resistance measuring circuitry.
The AD590MH is available in a TO-52-3 Metal Can package and is designed for through-hole mounting. Its current output makes it insensitive to voltage drops over long lines, making it useful for remote sensing applications. The device can be used in applications such as temperature compensation, flow rate measurement, and fluid level detection.
