The Analog Devices AD590KH is a versatile 2-terminal integrated circuit temperature transducer that outputs a current proportional to absolute temperature. It functions as a high-impedance, constant current regulator, providing 1 μA/K for supply voltages between 4V and 30V. The device is laser trimmed for accuracy, offering ±2.5°C accuracy at 25°C and excellent linearity over its full operating range of -55°C to 150°C.
Designed for ease of use, the AD590KH eliminates the need for linearization circuitry, precision voltage amplifiers, or resistance measuring circuits. Its high-impedance current output makes it ideal for remote sensing applications, as it is insensitive to voltage drops over long lines. The sensor is available in a TO-52-3 metal can package and is designed for through-hole mounting.
Applications for the AD590KH include general temperature measurement, temperature compensation or correction of discrete components, biasing proportional to absolute temperature, flow rate measurement, and fluid level detection. Its monolithic integrated circuit design and elimination of support circuitry make it an attractive and cost-effective alternative for many temperature measurement situations.
