The AD558KP is a complete 8-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Analog Devices, featuring a voltage-buffered output and internal reference. It is designed for microprocessor-controlled systems and offers a simple parallel interface. The device uses an R-2R architecture and provides excellent linearity with an INL of ±0.25 LSB maximum.
Key electrical specifications include a settling time of 0.8 µs typical (1.5 µs max) for the 0 to 2.56 V output range, and 2.0 µs typical (3.0 µs max) for the 0 to 10 V range. The supply voltage range is 4.5 V to 16.5 V for the 2.56 V range, and 11.4 V to 16.5 V for the 10 V range. The output can be configured for either 0 to 2.56 V or 0 to 10 V full-scale range.
The AD558KP is available in a surface-mount 20-LCC (J-Lead) package, also referred to as 20-PLCC (9x9 mm). It operates over the commercial temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. The internal reference simplifies design by eliminating the need for an external reference voltage source. The device is suitable for a wide range of applications including industrial control, automotive, and portable instrumentation.
