The AD5421 is a complete, loop-powered, 4 mA to 20 mA digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for smart transmitter applications in industrial control. It provides 16-bit resolution and monotonicity with a total unadjusted error of 0.05% maximum. The device supports pin-selectable NAMUR-compliant output ranges: 4-20 mA, 3.8-21 mA, and 3.2-24 mA. It includes an on-chip reference with 4 ppm/°C temperature coefficient and a quiescent current of 300 µA maximum. The AD5421 features a flexible SPI-compatible serial digital interface with Schmitt-triggered inputs, on-chip fault alerts, and slew rate control. It operates from a loop supply voltage of 5.5 V to 52 V and is specified over the -40°C to +105°C temperature range. The device is available in a 28-lead TSSOP package with exposed pad for surface mount assembly.
