The AD420AN-32 is a 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Analog Devices, designed for industrial control loop applications. It features a sigma-delta architecture with 16-bit resolution and monotonicity, providing high precision current output. The output current range is programmable to 4 mA to 20 mA, 0 mA to 20 mA, or 0 mA to 24 mA, with a buffered voltage output also available. Key electrical specifications include a settling time of 3 ms, integral nonlinearity of ±0.012% max, and offset error of ±0.05% max (trimmable). The device operates from a supply voltage of 12V to 32V and includes an on-chip 5V reference with 25 ppm/°C drift. The SPI serial interface supports data rates up to 3.3 Mbps. The AD420AN-32 is offered in a through-hole 24-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) package (24-PDIP) and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. It includes on-chip loop fault detection and an asynchronous CLEAR function, making it suitable for robust industrial environments.
