The AD1955ARS is a high performance multibit stereo audio DAC system from Analog Devices, designed for demanding audio applications. It operates from a 5 V power supply and accepts 16-/18-/20-/24-bit PCM data at sample rates including 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, and 192 kHz. The device also supports SACD bit stream playback with a bit expansion filter.
Key electrical performance includes a typical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 120 dB (A-weighted, stereo, 48 kHz) and a total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) of -110 dB typical. The differential current output provides an 8.64 mA p-p signal for optimal audio fidelity. The multibit sigma-delta modulator with Perfect Differential Linearity Restoration reduces idle tones and noise floor.
The AD1955ARS offers flexible data interface options including I2S, DSP, Left-Justified, Right-Justified, and SPI control modes. It is housed in a 28-lead SSOP surface mount package (28-SSOP, 0.209" width). On-chip features include clickless volume control, digital de-emphasis for 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, and 48 kHz sample rates, and support for SACD mute pattern detection.
The AD1955ARS has a resolution of 24 bits, and also accepts 16-, 18-, and 20-bit data.
The maximum sampling rate is 192 kHz for 24-bit PCM data.
The typical SNR is 120 dB (A-weighted, stereo, 48 kHz sample rate, not muted).
The typical total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) is -110 dB.
The AD1955ARS is available in a 28-lead SSOP surface mount package (28-SSOP, 0.209" width).
The nominal supply voltage is 5 V.
It supports I2S, DSP, Left-Justified, Right-Justified, and SPI data interfaces.
