The AD1890JN from Analog Devices is a Stereo Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter (ASRC) designed for high-quality audio signal processing. It features a dynamically adjustable low-pass filter cutoff frequency, allowing for real-time sample rate variations without degrading audio quality.
The device offers pin-selectable settling modes: slow-settling mode for optimal signal quality and jitter rejection (settles in ~800ms, rejects jitter above 3Hz), and fast-settling mode for rapid tracking of sample rate changes (settles in ~200ms, rejects jitter above 12Hz).
It also includes pin-selectable group delay modes. The short mode offers approximately 700 µs group delay, minimizing delay but being more sensitive to sample rate changes. The long mode provides approximately 3 ms group delay, offering tolerance for large dynamic sample rate changes, suitable for varispeed applications.
The AD1890JN is fabricated using a 0.8 µm CMOS process and is available in a 28-pin plastic DIP and a 28-pin PLCC package. It operates from a +5V power supply over a temperature range of 0°C to +70°C.
