The Allegro MicroSystems ACS712ELCTR-20A-T is a highly accurate, galvanically isolated linear current sensor IC. It utilizes the Hall effect principle to provide an output voltage proportional to the primary sampled current, IP, which can be AC or DC.
This sensor features a 20A current rating with a sensitivity of 100mV/A and a bidirectional polarization. It offers a low-resistance copper conduction path with a typical resistance of 1.2 mΩ, minimizing power loss. The device operates on a single 5V supply and provides a ratiometric voltage output.
Key electrical characteristics include a total output error of ±1.5% at 25°C, a fast 5µs output rise time, and a bandwidth of up to 80kHz. The sensor provides 2.4kVRMS minimum isolation voltage between the primary current path and the secondary pins.
