The A5348CA by Allegro MicroSystems (ALGR) is a BiCMOS circuit designed for ionization-type smoke detectors. This device is now discontinued and not recommended for new designs. It offers a networking capability allowing up to 125 units to be interconnected, so if one unit detects smoke, all units will sound an alarm.
The A5348CA incorporates features for simplified alignment and testing of finished smoke detectors. Its internal oscillator and timing circuitry minimize standby power by cycling the device on and off. It also includes a check for low battery conditions every 24 on-off cycles. This low-power device can be adapted for other battery-operated safety and security applications by using alternative sensors or switches.
The A5348CA is supplied in a 16-pin dual in-line plastic package (DIP) and is rated for continuous operation between -10°C and 60°C. The lead-free version, suffix –T, features 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
