The A5191HRTLG-XTP is a single-chip CMOS modem designed for HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) communication. It is manufactured by On Semiconductor and meets HART physical layer requirements. The modem provides modulation, demodulation, receive filtering, carrier detect, and transmit-signal shaping with few external passive components.
The device uses phase continuous frequency shift keying (FSK) at 1200 bits per second, employing Bell 202 shift frequencies of 1200 Hz and 2200 Hz. It operates in half-duplex mode, disabling receive circuits during transmit and vice versa to conserve power. The supply voltage range is 3.0V to 5.5V, making it compatible with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers. An external 460.8 kHz crystal or ceramic resonator is required for the internal oscillator.
The A5191HRTLG-XTP is available in a 32-lead LQFP package (7x7mm) for surface mount assembly. It supports an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, suitable for harsh environments. The device is Pb-Free and listed as RoHS3 compliant. Typical applications include HART multiplexers, HART modem interfaces, and 4-20 mA loop powered transmitters.
