The A4985SESTR-T from Allegro MicroSystems is a complete microstepping motor driver with a built-in translator, designed for easy operation of bipolar stepper motors. It supports full, half, quarter, and eighth step modes, selectable via MSx logic inputs.

 

This driver features an output drive capacity of up to 35V and ±1A. It includes a fixed off-time current regulator capable of operating in Slow or Mixed decay modes. Mixed decay mode results in reduced audible motor noise, increased step accuracy, and reduced power dissipation. The device is compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic supply.

 

Key features include low RDS(ON) outputs, automatic current decay mode detection, synchronous rectification for low power dissipation, internal UVLO, crossover-current protection, thermal shutdown circuitry, and short-to-ground/load protection. It also offers a low current sleep mode with consumption less than 10 µA.

 

The A4985SESTR-T is available in a 24-QFN (4x4mm) package with an exposed thermal pad, suitable for surface mounting. The ET package variant meets no-smoke no-fire (NSNF) compliance requirements.
