The Allegro MicroSystems A4983SETTR-T is a complete microstepping motor driver designed for easy operation of bipolar stepper motors. It supports full, half, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth-step modes, offering an output drive capacity of up to 35V and ±2A. The integrated translator simplifies implementation, requiring only a single STEP input pulse for each microstep, making it suitable for applications without complex microprocessors.

 

This driver features a fixed off-time current regulator with selectable Slow or Mixed decay modes. Automatic current decay mode detection and selection, along with synchronous rectification, contribute to reduced audible motor noise, increased step accuracy, and lower power dissipation. Internal protection includes thermal shutdown, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and crossover-current protection.

 

The A4983 is supplied in a 28-pin QFN surface mount package (5x5mm) with an exposed thermal pad. It is compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic supplies and operates over a temperature range of -20°C to 150°C (TJ).
