The device is built using DMOS technology and offers features like low RDS(on) outputs, short-to-ground protection, and crossover-current protection.

 

Designed for easy implementation, the A3987 requires only a single pulse on the STEP input for each microstep, making it suitable for applications where complex microprocessors are unavailable or overburdened. It operates over a voltage range of 8V to 50V and is supplied in a 24-pin TSSOP package with an exposed thermal pad for enhanced heat dissipation.

 

Internal circuit protection includes thermal shutdown with hysteresis and undervoltage lockout (UVLO). Synchronous rectification is incorporated to improve power dissipation during PWM operation. The package is lead-free with 100% matte-tin leadframe plating.
