This driver features internal fixed off-time PWM current-control timing circuitry that can be adjusted for slow, fast, and mixed current-decay modes. It includes PHASE and ENABLE input terminals for controlling motor speed and direction via external PWM signals. Internal synchronous rectification is incorporated to reduce power dissipation during PWM operation.

 

Protection features include thermal shutdown with hysteresis, undervoltage monitoring for supply and charge pump, and crossover-current protection. The A3959 is available in a 24-lead SOIC package with internally fused pins. The power pins and tabs are at ground potential and do not require electrical isolation. Each package is lead (Pb) free, with 100% matte tin leadframes.
