The Actel A2F500M3G-1FG256 is a customizable System-on-Chip (cSoC) FPGA from the SmartFusion family. It integrates a programmable logic matrix, a hard 100 MHz ARM Cortex-M3 processor, and programmable analog blocks onto a single chip.

This FPGA is built on a 130nm, 7-layer metal, flash-based CMOS process, offering nonvolatile, instant-on operation. Key features include up to 512 Kbytes of embedded nonvolatile flash memory, up to 64 Kbytes of embedded SRAM, and a multi-layer AHB communications matrix providing up to 16 Gbps of on-chip memory bandwidth. It also includes a 10/100 Ethernet MAC with RMII interface and a programmable external memory controller.

The device supports various peripherals such as two I2C, two UARTs, two SPI, and multiple timers. The integrated ARM Cortex-M3 processor offers features like a Memory Protection Unit (MPU), single-cycle multiplication, and hardware divide. Debugging is supported via JTAG, SWD, and SWV interfaces.

For analog functions, the A2F500M3G-1FG256 includes up to three 12-bit SAR ADCs with sample rates up to 500 kSPS, a sigma-delta DAC, and up to five analog signal conditioning blocks. The FPGA fabric is based on the ProASIC3 technology, providing 500K gates of logic, firm-error immunity, and nonvolatile program retention when powered off. The component comes in a 256-pin FBGA package suitable for surface mounting.
