The 3M 89116-0001 is a 16 position, 2 row IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) socket receptacle designed for use with 0.050 inch pitch ribbon cable. It features a 2.54mm pitch and 2.54mm row spacing. The connector uses female socket contacts made of phosphor bronze with a gold plating of 30.0 microinches on the wiping area over a 50 microinch nickel underplating.
The connector is rated for a typical current of 1A per contact with a maximum of 1.25A per contact under derated conditions. It is designed for a dielectric withstanding voltage of 1000 V RMS at sea level and has a minimum insulation resistance of 1 x 10^9 ohms at 500 V DC. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 105°C.
The housing is made of glass filled polyester (PBT) with a UL94V-0 flammability rating, colored gray. The connector is designed for free hanging (in-line) mounting and accepts 26-28 AWG stranded wire. The part is bulk packaged with a standard package quantity of 500.
